Danene has practiced PT for 22+ years and wants nothing more than to get you back to doing what you love! Her PT philosophy is to empower her clients with the correct tools to overcome injury and chronic conditions through education, sound treatment, and common sense.
Danene developed a passion for health and fitness through hiking, gardening, team sports, and caring for animals. Always a tomboy, she played competitive softball throughout high school and college. After an injury sidelined her, she was introduced to PT and something clicked. It was clear that helping others get back to what they loved was going to be her passion. Since graduating from Slippery Rock University of PA with her DPT in 2000, Danene has provided care in outpatient rehab and private practices in both Richmond VA and Honolulu HI.
Danene employs a richly diversified skill set to include manual, neuromuscular, and gait training modalities. Plus, she is proud to be certified in both dry needling and yoga. She finds dry needling to be highly effective in expediting recovery and jumpstarting chronic issues to heal. She uses the importance of yoga and breathwork to bring awareness and motor control while completing corrective exercise.
Outside of the clinic, you can find Danene paddling on the James, digging in the dirt, and hiking in the woods. She also loves Peloton, fixing up her old house, and playing with her two snort-tastic French bulldogs. Most recently, she and her husband welcomed a granddaughter and are in love!

Career Motivation:
My passion for sports psychology and motor performance has always driven me to explore how we can use instruction and feedback to enhance not just performance, but also motivation. This curiosity led me to study athletic training during my undergraduate years. I then spent over a decade immersed in the fitness world, helping people refine their form and achieve their goals. However, I realized I wanted to go beyond just correcting form—I wanted to help people recover from real injuries. Now, as a Doctor of Physical Therapy, I can blend coaching, fitness, and medicine to provide comprehensive care that truly makes a difference in my patients’ lives.

Fun and Exercise:
I thrive on outdoor adventures that leave me muddy, bloody, or soaking wet—whether it’s mountain biking, trail running, whitewater rafting, rock climbing, or adventure racing. The longer and more challenging the day, the better.
In the gym, I gravitate towards kettlebells, TRX, deadlifts, bodyweight exercises, spinning, and yoga.
At home, when I’m not baking snickerdoodles or crocheting, I’m helping my youngest son pursue his dream of becoming a Lego Master or supporting my oldest son’s love for all things Harry Potter and Percy Jackson.
Passion Projects:
I have a deep interest in tackling complex cases—those patients with persistent pain that others couldn’t resolve or with unusual movement patterns that need careful unraveling. Currently, I’m expanding my expertise in Anatomy Trains and physical therapy specifically tailored for rock climbers.
