Danene has practiced PT for 22+ years and wants nothing more than to get you back to doing what you love! Her PT philosophy is to empower her clients with the correct tools to overcome injury and chronic conditions through education, sound treatment, and common sense.
Danene developed a passion for health and fitness through hiking, gardening, team sports, and caring for animals. Always a tomboy, she played competitive softball throughout high school and college. After an injury sidelined her, she was introduced to PT and something clicked. It was clear that helping others get back to what they loved was going to be her passion. Since graduating from Slippery Rock University of PA with her DPT in 2000, Danene has provided care in outpatient rehab and private practices in both Richmond VA and Honolulu HI.
Danene employs a richly diversified skill set to include manual, neuromuscular, and gait training modalities. Plus, she is proud to be certified in both dry needling and yoga. She finds dry needling to be highly effective in expediting recovery and jumpstarting chronic issues to heal. She uses the importance of yoga and breathwork to bring awareness and motor control while completing corrective exercise.
Outside of the clinic, you can find Danene paddling on the James, digging in the dirt, and hiking in the woods. She also loves Peloton, fixing up her old house, and playing with her two snort-tastic French bulldogs. Most recently, she and her husband welcomed a granddaughter and are in love!

Career Motivation: I’ve always been interested in sports psychology and motor performance- how do we use instruction and feedback to maximize not only performance but motivation? In undergrad, this led me to study athletic training. From there I dove into the fitness world for over a decade. It finally got to a point that I wanted to help folks when they were experiencing true injuries, not just needing form correction. Now as a DPT, I can dive into the weeds with my patients- merging the worlds of coaching, fitness, and medicine!
Secret SuperPower: Finding four leaf clovers.
Clinical Skills/Certifications:
PT, DPT. SFMA Level 1, FMS Level 2, NSCA-CPT. Instrumented Assisted Manual Therapy (myofascial scraping), cupping, kinesiology taping
Fun and Exercise: Any day that leaves you muddy, bloody, or soaking wet- Mountain biking, trail running, whitewater, flatwater, rock climbing, adventure racing, etc. The longer the day, the better.
In the gym, it’s Kettlebells, TRX, Deadlifts, Bodyweight, Spinning, and Yoga.
At home, when I’m not baking snickerdoodles or crocheting, I am helping my youngest son with his ambition to be a Lego Master and my oldest son with his passion for all things Harry Potter and Percy Jackson.
Passion Projects: I love a difficult case- the patients who have a nagging pain that no one could figure out or a funky movement pattern that needs serious untangling. I’m currently working on building my expertise in Anatomy Trains as well as physical therapy for Rock Climbers.
